I have a customer with a "how long is a piece of string?" question. What would be "normal" expected size of the virtualcenter database. Of course a number of variables pipe into this - but can someone give me their figures. Like "we have 30 esx hosts with 200 VMs which has been up for 1 year and the DB is N gb in size..."

Mike
From the VI3 installation guide ..
Storage requirements can be larger if your database runs on the same hardware as
the VirtualCenter Server machine. The size of the database varies with the number
of hosts and virtual machines you manage. Using default settings for a year with
25 hosts and 8 to 16 virtual machines each, the total database size can consume up
to 2.2GB (SQL) or 1.0GB (Oracle).
In our VI3 environment we have 2 esx hosts and 5 VM's. VC2.0 has been running for approx 4 weeks. Database has pre-allocated space of 150mb, but daily SQL server backup using management plan is 37mb, which is more indicative of space used.....
I have 2 hosts / 20 VMs. The database is 790 MB after 6 months.
