VC CPU Performance vs. Windows VM Task Manager in VI3

Hello,

I have a number of windows VMs that keeps maxing out to 100% CPU in the performance charts in VC. However, when I log onto the VMs and open Task Manager, it shows System Idle process at 99%.

It is occurring on a number on my VMs all of them are P2V migrations. Any thought on how to resolve this?

Cheers,

Joe

If you P2V a multi processor CPU and then assign the VM only one CPU, the problem you are having can occur. You can give the VMs a second vCPU, but this is the least prefered option as it is best to run VMs with only one vCPU unless the VM requires more CPU resources.

The 2nd option is to stick with one vCPU and change the HAL to APCI Uniprocessor PC. That should fix things up for you. Here's a thread on that.
