VC 2.5 U2 on Windows 2008?

I just tried it and got a message it would not install and is not supported. We will soon standardize on Win 2008, so when will VC run on top of Win 2008 (64-bit)?

Will I have to wait for ESX 4.0 / VC 3.0 ?

There are some hacks in this forum for running it on W2K8, but right now it is unsupported. I havent' heard anything specific for the next VC release but I would expect W2K8 would be supported (x64 would be another thing).

I do hope they make Win2008 x64 supported as host OS for VC. x64 is not uncommon or special anymore, we use it a lot already with great results. Even my TV-card in my Vista client had drivers for x64...

Also, I do hope that VC 3.0 (had hoped U2.. May there be a U3?) would support the deployment wizard with a Win2008 VM template... Win2008 is not that new anymore and was in beta for a looong time, so why the lag? I guess Hyper-V has full support for reconfiguring Win2008? :smileysilly: Havn't tried that yet..
