VC 2.5 - Could not interpret the client's request - Update manager

I'm getting a "Could not interpret the client's request" error when opening the VIC and it appears the problem is related to the update manager. The reason I think this is the update manager is installed but when I go to activate it, it gives me the same client request error. (The converter plugin works OK.)

In effort to fix the problem, I've attempted to download and reinstall the plugin, but when I try to download the update plugin, it gives me a 404 not found error.

Any ideas?

Try uninstalling/removing the plug-in and then reinstall it again. I remember seeing this during the beta.

I think you are correct. Even though VIC says it's installed (not activated) I don't see in the add/remove programs.

I'll try reinstalling it and let you know.

As it turns out, the plugin was installed while connected to another VC. That would explain why the plugin was downloaded but unable to activate. To resolve the issue I simply installed the update manager on the new VC.

Thanks for the help!

I was getting the same error "Could not interpret the client's request" when connecting to VC and Update Manager was installed. We started getting this error and ended up rebooting the VC server, this fixed the "Could not interpret the client's request" error. However after launching VC for the first time after the reboot, I noticed that Update Manager still shows as installed under Manage Plug-ins however it was not Enabled anymore. I re-enabled it and so far things are working ok. I am running Update Manager 1.0.0.63959. Has anyone seen this?

I am having the same problem with Virtual Infrastructure Client v2.5 - I uninstalled and reinstalled it but it has not made any difference. I can use all of my VMs, and can connect to the console through ssh using Putty, the VIC will not let me in. Any further thoughts?

I found this issue after I changed IPs of my lab VC. I uninstalled the VUM plugin and got an error trying to add it back in. Turns out, I still had the old IP in my local host file (lab not in prod DNS) and once I fixed this, all was nice again. Smiley Happy
