Hello all,
since we installed the DST Patch for ESX (New Zealand DST change), we cannot connect from VC to ESX with the following error:
"Unable to access the specified host. It either does not exist, the server software is not responding, or there is a network problem."
The strange thing is if I remove the host and add it again, I can see the VMs on the machine.
Can someone help us with that?
Thanks,
Marcus
weird... What version of ESX are you running?
Ive got systems running vc 2.0.1 and ESX 3.0.1 and vc 2.0.2 and ESX 3.0.2 without problems.
I assume the Microsoft Patch has been applied to your VC server, and everything is in the same time zones?
Steve
we are running esx 3.0.0 and we applied the patch to esx and the vc center machine, maybe we should upgrade esx and vc center again.
Thanks for your answer
Make sure the directory /tmp/vmware-root exists on your ESX host. Create it if it is not there with mkdir /tmp/vmware-root. Then restart the management agents with
service mgmt-vmware restart
service vmware-vpxa restart
Then try readding you host.
If that doesn't work you could manually install the agent. This thread has instructions http://communities.vmware.com/thread/48469
can I just restart those services, or do I need to be caref00l? I don't want to terminate something
Thanks.
Marcus
I just restarted the services and it fixed the problem, but the folder was there.
Thanks for the hint.
Cheers,
Marcus
