Using MS Cluster to provide HA for Virtual Centre 4.0

Hi, we currently use ESX3.5 and Virtual Centre 2.5, I am about to start an upgrade on all our services to VSphere 4.0 and Virtual Centre 4.0. At the moment we have a two node MS Cluster connect to DAS storage that supports Virtual Centre 2.5. I need to find out if 1: VCentre 4.0 is supported running on a MS Cluster and 2: Are there any documents describing the process for creating the cluster group.

I have done this several times for VCenter 2.5, however I am not able to find any info on VCentre 4 and all my searches seem to lead me VCentre Heartbeat.

Any help is appreciated.

The "Setup for Failover Clustering and Microsoft Cluster Service" for vCenter 4.1 can be downloaded from http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_mscs.pdf and for vCenter 4.0 use link http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40_u1/vsp_40_u1_mscs.pdf

I hope this information helps Smiley Happy

Here is a VMware document for setting up Virtual Center 2.5 on a MSCS cluster, http://www.ntpro.nl/blog/uploads/ClusteringVC25.pdf. It's older but it may help. Here is a blog post detailing vCenter 4 on MSCS. http://blog.vmpros.nl/2009/11/04/vmware-create-mscs-windows-2003-with-virtual-center-4-0/
