Use CA cert for vCenter

I'm trying to user a CA cert for vCenter (6.0) and the KBs are confusing me.  We have our own CA.  Can someone explain what the process of doing this would be?  Do you have to replace both the machine SSL and the solution users SSL?

I'm working on this too, if you have your own CA your supposed to be able to sign a intermediate certificate, then add that to the platform servcies controller.I think this explains it better then the docs

https://thewificable.com/2017/02/01/vmca-6-5-as-an-intermediate-ca/

but I haven't done it yet.
