Upgrading vCenter 4.1 to 5.0 and to Server 2008 R2

I was wondering the best method to upgrade a current vCenter 4.1 running  on server 2003 to 5.0 while at the same time upgrading server 2008  R2.   I'm using a remote SQL 2008 R2 instance.  Would it be better to go  with a new server name and IP or keep the existing server name and IP?   Trying to figure out the pros and cons of both!  Or would it be better  to upgrade the existing to 5.0 and then rebuild/move to 2008? Thanks.

Yes. I would migrate to a new 2008 server and either point to existing DB or a new instance and then migrate hosts and guests.

This should get you started  http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-50-upgrade...

Here is another doc on migration http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=200532...
