Upgrade from vCenter 5.0 to 5.1 fails with error

I am trying to upgrade a vCenter Server appliance to v. 5.1.

I have been following steps outlined in the following URL:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2033990&sliceId=1&doc...

I have launched the setup wizard from the 5.1 server appliance, and traded keys between the source and the destination.  When I click next on the destination (5.1 version), I get an error:
409
Error: the time on the source is earlier than the time on the destination vCenter Server appliance by 1206 seconds.

This seems fairly intuitive, but I cannot correct it.  I have tried setting the time zone on both consoles to Americas\New York and still the exact same error.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
