Update manager query

Hello Experts,

Am a bit confused with respect to working of update manager.

based on kb1004543 which says, update manage's web server and SOAP server are accessed through a reverse proxy using port 80 and 443.

when vcenter and update manager is installed on same server 'All incoming connections to Update

Manager are accessed through a reverse proxy provided by VCenter

and when installed on seperate servers 'Update Manager has a reverse proxy listening on ports 80 and 443 if the default is not changed during the installation.'

does this means both have reverse proxy feature, the usage depends onlyon the way installation is done..

Am i right? please guide me.. am trying to understand the update manager functionality as am not able to download updates from urls.

Have you checked that there is nothing in the way..outbound from the update manager to the internet?

There is no problem in connectivity to internet, you can check the attached image, all the links shows as connected.

What error do you get when you "download now"
