I am building a Lab and planning for Update Manager's patch repository disk space. I was going to toy with Windows and Linux guest updating and wanted to estimate how much space the repository will take up. I am looking at the vCenter Update Manager Sizing Estimator but, I'm not sure I understand how the variables are affecting total size?
I thought the download VM patch setting in Update Manager would download all Windows patches, all Linux patches, or both but, in the Sizing Estimator spreadsheet, the 3 variables that change "Disk Utilization" are:
- Number of Windows distributions(2k/XP/2k3/Vista) in the inventory
- Average number of locales for Windows distribution
- Average number of different Service pack levels for Windows distribution
Is Update Manager selectivley downloading only patches for OS types in inventory?
