Update Manager Issues

Hi All,

Having some issues with Update Manager and is wondering if people have seen this before.

Issue: 'Scan for Updates' and 'Remediate' tasks are inconsistent, failure some of the time, works some of the time

Level: Happens at either host level or Cluster Level (both off and on).

I have tried to do this from 2 different managment servers, and the VirtualCenter directly, same issues.

Things I have tried:

Firewall Wide Open (no change)

vci-integrity.xml file modified (<PatchDepotURL>http://<hostname or ip>:80/vci/hostupdates/hostupdate</PatchDepotURL>) (no change)

Checked DNS settings, modifed some as some settings were different on the servers, (no change)

Upgraded VI Client to Match VC build. (no change)

Enviroment Info: VI Client (119598); VC Server (119598/u3); ESX Hosts (all at 130756); 2 Clusters, 2 DL380 G5's in one, and 3 DL580G5's in other.

This is really becoming a concern as this is our Test Enviroment and we plannedon rolling into production next month, however are having no faith in this patching. VMware Tech was the one that suggested that modify of the .xml file, but still no change.

Any info on solutions would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Neel
