Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum. I am trying to install the vcenter server in a VM.
VM configuration: 10G VMDK, used 7G ... 2G memory ... guest os is win XP Pro.
When i run the installer it says:
This installation package could not be opened!!!
I have attached the JPG of the error. Can someone please help!
Regards.
64bit is not supported as a Host OS for vCenter, see the compatibility guide posted above. I would try to mount the ISO, using client device instead of from the ESX Host, It could be your DVD image is not good.
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_compatibility_matrix.pdf pg 18 list the compatible OSes for vCenter install.
Is this 64bit XP? what SP2?

could be bad media too. Did you download the vCenter ISO and mount that to the VM in question?
No, i have been trying to run the installer from the CD on the host server.
MattG :
