For testing i have powered off a VM, the alerts trigger inthe vCenter ,but am not getting any email from vCenter.
i have tried telnet in vcenter server with port 25 and able to telnet successfully.

I have issues in the past with SMTP and McAfee. open the VirusScan console>Access Protection>Anti-Virus Standard Protection - Ensure that 'prevent mass mailing worms from sending email' isnt set to Block
But the alarm is triggered in vCenter? Do you see the red signal?
Check again if you have set the mail on the yellow -> red transition.
Also remember that vCenter cannot use SMTP auth and/or SMTP+TLS... so a single telnet on port 25 may not mean that it sould work for sure.

Some antivirus software will also restrict program access to port 25. Check to make sure your a/v is not blocking this action.

Hi ,
I am able to see the Red colored trigged when i am turning off the VM.
i set the following configuration in Alarm Settings in Action Tab.
Action Configuration Normal->Warning Warning->Alert Alert->Warning Warning->Normal
Send a notification email raju.gunnal@companyname.com Once Repeat Once Once
And i also seen in vCenter server am using mcafee antivirus, it is not blocking port 25 and also i added it in exception list in antivirus.

Is the email alert going to an internal or external (to your domain) address?
What email system are you using?
Email alert is going to Internal Domain only i.e. raju.gunnal@mycompany.com.
I have checked the SMTP IP/hostname given is correct, with the same SMTP hostname the other application can able to trigger mail.
