Hi,
I m new to vmware.i m using vsphere 4.
My hardware architecture is as follows:
"dell equallogic ps6000 as a storage box, two dell r710 for esx hosting"
i have installed esx 4 on dell r710. also i have configured 4 hosts on one of the esx hosts.
now i want to create cluster in vcentre server. do i really need to shutdown all VMs before that. the hosts are in a production environment and i may not get the downtime more that 15 mins.
please guide me.
Thanks in advance for the help.
To create a cluster you dont need to shutdown VM's. Create a clsuter and move the ESX hosts to it.
You would get a good idea if you the read the administration docs http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_esx_vc_installation_guide.pdf
Hope this helps!
No need to shutdown host.
Create a Cluster with DRS, and put all hosts into it.
