I powered down one of my hosts, added memory to it, moved it to a different network rack, and brought it back online. It showed up in vCenter as disconnected, so i removed it and tried adding it back. I get the following error: "Cannot contact the specified host. The host may not be available on the network, a network configuration problem may exist, or the management services on this host may not be responding." I tried restarting the host itself, and restarting the management services and still get this message. I can ping the ip address of the host and i get a reply back. Does anybody have any other suggestion for me to try?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Pete
If your host is a classic ESX, try removing the vpx agent from it by doing:
rpm -qa | grep vpx
This command should return you 1 line with the RPM package for vpx. The proceed with:
rpm -e
Try adding the host to vc again.

I ended up calling VMware support, and they had me create a new service console.
