Unable to access the specified host. It either does not exist, the server software is not responding, or there is a network problem.

Hi all:

The error is on the subject.

ESX Server 3.0.1. VIC 2.5.0. It was working fine at sudenlly was not responding. In fact I have others with the same version working with the same VMware-vpxa Agent running (2.5.0 - 64192).

Memory console 512 MB.

Reinstall agent update succesfully, but the same error... Reboot and the same error... Ping connectivity tested (by IP, and resolving name).

The hostd.log has this lines when I try to reconnect machine...

# tail -f hostd.log

Connection to server localhost:8089 failed with error Connection refused. Retrying...

Check DNS. Can each system resolve the other's FQDN?

Also, you can try to do a restart of the hostd process. At the console type: service mgmt-vmware restart. Please see KB article if you are running 3.0.1
