Traffic between an ESXi host and vCenter Server is Secured???

Dear Team,

Request you to let me know is the traffic between an ESXi host and vCenter server (vice- versa) is secured ???

VC and ESXi version is 5.1U1a

Default SSL certificates would be installed automatically. However, you can configure third party SSL certificates to make environment even more secured.
