I tried to add a host to a cluster but I typed the wrong password. Now when I tried again to add the host it gives me the error
But the host is not added to the vCenter just yet so I can only assume it is in the database but not fully.
Any way to remove this again ?
try this:
service vmware-vpxa restart
if that doesn't fix, then try
service mgmt-vmware restart
All this needs to be run from the service console of your ESX Host.
Interesting. Which version of vCenter/ESX do you use?
Does the error also occur if you use the IP address instead of the host name?
André
Troy,
vpxa doesn't exist yet as the server is not yet connected to the vc and a restarting mgmt-vmware was the first thing I tried, I even restarted the host and virtual center
a.p.
Latest available (4.1) and IP does work .. just want to use the host name though.
I even restored the database back a few hours ago and it still shows up
how bout adding in by FQDN?
What's wrong with my hostfile
10.10.10.1 vsphere-1 vsphere-1.domain.com
10.10.10.1 vsphere-2 vsphere-2.domain.com
10.10.10.1 vsphere-3 vsphere-3.domain.com
One of those moments where you really feel stupid
Sorry to have you time wasted all ..
oops
We've all had those moments. Atleast it's resolved
Hey, your error helped me find my own error. It was not a host file error, but an IP changing some weeks ago. I changed the IPs of 2 of my hosts, but then I didn't disconnected-reconnected them to vCenter after the change. Everything was working as usual, until I tried to add a new host configured with one of the old IPs, I got this same error. I found your problem and it helped me figure out what could be happening, I just removed and added again the old hosts and now everything is working. Thank you!
So: if you change a ESX/ESXi IP, remove it and add it again to vCenter.
Hi,
I got the same message after assiging OLD ip to new ESX 5 Enterprise. for easy and quick step, add error given ESX to another vCenter and again disconnected and remove from there and add it to desire vCenter.
Note:- In this way vpxa settings on ESX change.
This tested with vCenter 5 and ESXi 5.
