Syslog and Dump Collector

I am thinking about installing these services since we had a host PSOD on us the other day and of course all logs are gone after the reboot...  Can I instll both of these apps on a seperate server from vCenter?  Anything that needs to be done once I install it and point all the hosts to it?

I hope so - that's what I'm doing  Smiley Wink

My VUM server is also my Syslog and Dump Collector, separate from my vCenter server.

I believe there was a patch from December that fixes a bug with remote syslogging.

You can install also on standalone systems. And of course you can use other syslog servers.
