Hi,
In the Summary info tab, info like DNS Names & IP address are not displayed. VMware tools have been installed and it is reflected in the Summary tab.
This is affecting WinNT VMs and one or two WinXP pro VMs. Is there anyway to "force" the info to be displayed (I have tried re-installing VMware Tools).
Thanks.
Regards,
Alan
Are you using VirtualCenter? If so have you tried connecting direct to ESX with the VI Client and see if displays correctly there. You might also try re-starting the mgmt-vmware and vmware-vpxa services on the ESX server and then reconnect with the VI Client.
I tired the VI web client. Same results. DNS Name & IP Addresses are "Not Available".
When you say restart the "mgmt-vmware" and "vmware-vpxa" services, you are saying to do a kill -HUP ? Anyway, I don't see "mgmt-vmware" and "vmware-vpxa " listed in the process list. Closest I have are:
/bin/sh /usr/bin/vmware-watchdog -s vpxa -u 30 -q 5 /usr/sbin/vpxa and
/usr/lib/vmware/vpx/vpxa.
I can ping the affected VM by IP address & FQDN.
just type "service vmware-vpxa restart" and "service mgmt-vmware restart"
Will the VM's restart by restarting service vmware-vpxa ?
no
they will stay up
mgmt-vmware could cause a restart of your VM's if you're not fully patched and use auto startups, see this...
Thanks esiebert7625 I was posting this the sametime you did.
Will this on restart the VM's?
service mgmt-vmware restart
