Storage VMotion

I'm using VCenter v2.5.0 U3 together with esx 3.5.0 U3.

Is it now possible to do an online Storage VMotion via the graphical GUI.

I'm not shure, but I only find a offline Storage VMotion (VM is powered down).

Can anyone help me?

My Exchange Server has two Disks on Storage DiskLUN17 (SAN)

and two Disks on Storage DiskLUN07 (also SAN)

Can I move them to DiskLUN15 on my SAN Storage (the disk size is enough) ?

Yes, using the tool, move the disks first to where you want them, then move the header (vm name) to the lun, it should now show the vm with the correct disks under it. You are now ready. Remember to click once on each disk, then click again and drag it where you want to go.

hi,

Or download/install VI Remote CLI (RCLI) which is supported (The GUI's is not supported, lots of people are using it with great success but again not supported)

When the package is installed in your vCenter the svmotion.pl --interactive command will do the work for you, and the best part it's supported if you have an issue when you use it.

Here are the steps:

Login with your VMware Account and download the RCLI Windows/Linux package.

Install (if you downloaded windows package) on your vCenter server.

Execute svmotion.pl --interactive command from a command prompt window.

Follow the instructions.
