  • 1.  Storage VMotion requires shutdown

    Im running VCenter Server 4.x and a handful of my machines require me to shut down before the move will complete. Any ideas?

    Can you please explain this. Does this mean it starts and then stops at some point or doesn't it start at all?

    Do the VM's have snapshots?

    Hi,

    No it never starts. It errors out immediately uppon trying to schedule it to happen. As best as I can tell there are no snapshots.

    Please double check whether any of the limitations mentioned here apply to you.

    Btw. to find out whether the VM's have snapshots, don't only rely on the snapshot manager, also take a look at the VM's HDD settings to see whether the virtual disk's file name (e.g. <vmname>-00000x.vmdk).
