Snapshot removal

VM Snapshot files is growing into the DATAstore automatically and I could not view the snapshot in the snapshot manager . How could remove the snapshot files from in VM server.

Any one meet the issue.

Create a snapshot, then go into snapshot manager and select "delete all". It should remove the missing snapshot

Thanks.

But datastore has not space for take the snapshot and the snapshot file is multiplying there. Free space is 20 GB out of 500GB.

Could you provide solution for this?

Can you not storage vMotion it to another datastore then do the above idea?

if you can't move it try shut down the vm, then take the snapshot and remove it as taking the snapshot while off will make the new snapshot's deleta file very small due to no new changes being written to it

Which version/build of ESX(i) do you use?

How many snapshots do you see in the datastore browser?

If you have only one snapshot or if you have multiple snapshots AND you are running either ESX(i) 3.5 U5, ESX(i) 4.0 U2 or ESX(i) 4.1, I'd suggest you go with Gregg's suggestion to power off the VM, create an additional snapshot and then do a "Delete All". Depending on the snapshot size you should calculate with some downtime.

If you have multiple snapshots and you are not running the latest version of ESX(i) please DON'T use the "Delete All" button. This will most likely end up in a full datastore. In this case please post a screen shot of the datastore browser window, showing name, extension, size and time stamp of all files in the VM's folder.

If you cannot see the snapshots by the vSphere Client, try to delete the snapshots using the vCLI:

vmware-cmd -H Regards / Saludos

If all else fails you could just import it to a new virtual machine using the VMWare Converter.

Then completely delete the old copy and all its snapshots (ether using the datastore browser or the CLI), before copying the newly imported copy back.

Of course this would require you have some storage area somewhere to temporarily place the copy created by the converter.
