Does reverting to a previous snapshot bring back the old virtual hardware the VM had and remove the hardware which has been added after the snapshot .?
For example,
1. I have a VM with 1 NIC.
2. Now I take snapshot 1.
3. Add one more NIC. Now I have 2 NICs.
4. Revert to Snapshot 1. ; After the revert operation how many NICs will I have and why .?
I reffered to the kb article: VMware KB: Working with snapshots and it says snapshots "Includes the settings and configuration of a virtual machine and its virtual hardware."
Can some here get me some clarity on this.

Hi George,
After reverting to snapshot VM will move to the position while creating snapshot. So you will get 1 nic only.
Thanks

Hi Deepak,
It after reverting you will have 2NIC's. just confirmed it. i think even VMX will be updated.
I never knew this. thanks for bringing it up. i always thought that snapshot only makes changes to the disk(data) and never thought about hardware changes.
When you create a snapshot, you will see the delta .vmdk file(s) as well as .vmsn (Virtual Machine Snapshot) file. The .vmsn file contains a backup of the VM's configuration (you can see this with an editor) as well as its memory state (if the VM was powered on). When you revert to this snapshot the contents of this .vmsn file will be restored.
