Hello,

we are running two virtual centers and would like to copy/register dynamically virtual machiens from one virtual center to the other. How can we copy a vm between two virtual centers?

It is possible to mount the same datastore to two virtual centers? If yes could I use the register and unregister functionality of the virtual center.

kind regards

daniel

VC does not manage datastores, it manages ESX servers and the datastores that they see. A ESX server can only be managed by one VC server at a time. VM's can be moved from one datastore/server to another through a variety of methods. If the VC server sees both ESX servers you can cold migrate the VM to another server/data store or use vmotion to migrate the VM to another server. If these are 2 ESX servers managed by 2 different VC servers then you need to manually move the VM from one ESX server to another by using VMware Converter or the SCP copy utility followed by vmkfstools.
