SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 with VC 2.5

Has anyone tried to migrate to MS SQL 2005 from MS SQL 2000 using VC 2.5

I found this procedure but it looks like it was before VC 2.5

I've been testing without success. I want to migrate to a new VC server and move the database that is now a local 2000 to another server running 2005.

What I have done is.

Create a new VC server and point to a blank database on the DB server

Backup the SQL 2000 DB, shut down the VC services and then restore the 2000 backup to the 2005 DB server.

Have my DBA restablish the login's ownership of the database.

After this the VC service won't start. It terminates with error 0X2.

I tried a repair install which works but reinitalizes the database, I don't have an option to use the existing database.

Any ideas as to what I need to do to make this work? Do I have to upgrade the existing database to 2005 first?

Did you setup dbo over the MSDB database per http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1003052&sl...?

Another helpful link is http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100334....

The user does have the owner role to msdb.

I'll check out the Sysadmin role, that look like the more likely culprit.
