SNMP: vmware CPU perf indexing

While collecting and tracking performance data from the ESX server agents, we have noticed some anomalies in how the CPU's, or processors, are indexed and reported. We are using the vmware mib supplied.

In searching documentation, we cannot find adequate defintion or description of how the CPU data is indexed and reported by this snmp agent.

Does anyone have a resource or more detailed data on this?

(the data has poor value if it cannot be correlated and applied to actual hardware and tuning needs)

Environment: Vmware ESX 2.x and 3.x servers with vmware snmp agents enabled.

Hello,

Have you compared your data gathering to what is shown in the VIC when connected to VC? This may give you assistance you need.

Best regards,

Edward
