Restoring Hosts/VM statistics after re-adding host to cluster

After removing some hosts from a cluster, and then re-adding them, all the statistics of the VM's have gone.
Is there any way to get these stats back?  It only has them for 'real time' and 'day', which is the time since they have been back in the cluster.
Oh and keep in mind, when an alarm definition is selected on the right hand pane, a cluster can ALSO be highlighted in the left pane, so hitting delete, will delete the most currently highlighted item, and that could be a cluster. Whoops!  and right clicking on the task in vSphere client, the Cancel option is greyed out!  (and yes there was a "Are you sure" confirmation after hitting delete..)

When you remove a host from vCenter, it assumes that entity is no longer being managed and you will lose all performance statistics including the VMs. There is no way to restore that information, once re-added, vCenter will continue to collect and through the roll-up jobs, you'll eventually start to see your weekly, monthly, etc. stats
