Reporting at a glance

Hi All,

I need to pull out data from VI Client regarding my farm. I need the following fields in the report:

ESX Server name

Virtual machine name or/and IP Address

Operating system ( if possible)

I tried selecting the Datacenter but the Host Summary option under the reporting was gryed off. I got the administrator rights though. Your small help in this will be highly appreciable.

Thanks

~Nitin

You are trying to export a list from virtual center, or your trying to extract performance reports?

If trying to export a list, keep in mind it will export based on your title bar and what is showing. If trying to extract a performance report on your entire infrastructure from within VC, it may time out.

you my want to look at something like Veeam Reporter.

hope this helps a bit.

Hi Troy,

Thanks for the information, well I tried the export tab and it says "Export Event, List,Maps and Diagnostic Data" however I am looking for just the informational data like :

Total ESX names

And Corresponding VM's

With the operatinb system if possible.

I am searching for Veeam Reporter now.... Yea, I am using the VI Client 2.5 ,,

Veeam Reporter is great, but after the trial, it costs.

If looking for a free reporting tool, and if familiar with Powershell, you can easily get the information you are after.

you may want to browse this community

All of that information is easily available using the VI Toolkit, you can check the following forum for some code already written or post your own questions on there.

Also, I have written a reporting script which extracts this sort of information straight into a word document which can be found here:
