Repeated Error:"An errror occured while communicating with the remote host"

Hi,

I got a problem in a customers environment, where I often receive the error message metioned above. On multiple occasions (e.g. cloning VMs, editing settings, opening consoles,...) the tasks is ended with this error messages. If I do the same task again (and sometimes again and again) I eventually executes.

In the logfile I see this messages:

I am suspecting some firewall issues because the VC and the ESX-Servers are separated by a firewall, but I can not "prove" it and 90% of the time everything works flawlessly...

The environment consists of 8 ESXi (Build 153875) and 1 VC 2.5 Update 4.

We had that issue also. Ours was more like it worked only 30% of the time. We would always have to retry the task. It seems to have fixed itself once all the firewalls in the datacenter were rebooted one night. Since then, it's been flawless. I'd really suspect something firewall related at your site too.
