Removing an ESXi host from the datacenter inventory

Hi,

I have a fairly simple question, but it is a very important one. I have two esxi host machines attached to the inventory of our vcenter's datacenter. Both hosts have important live machines running on them and they both need to be removed from the datacenter's inventory. It is of utmost importance that these virtual machines will remain working during the process.

I understand it is a fairly simple process to remove the host from the datacenter. It is just a matter of a right-click on the host and pressing "disconnect" first and "remove" after, but I need to be ensured that this is in no way going to affect the running live virtual machines on either host.

We have no HA or replication in place an all the vm's are just standalone instances.

No impact will be on Virtual Machines. Only the will impact will be in picture if you given permission to any user on vcenter by AD Authentication. That can Be removed. Else there will be no impact on virtual machines or Host either. Also check if is there no any shared storage are being used. Else everything will run like a charm. Smiley Happy

Remember that if you have vAPP's and resource pools you will loose them because they will be create using vCenter. If you had a vApp and you had configured the boot and shutdown order all that will be lost.
