Register Storage Provider in vCenter 5

I am running vCenter 5 and the p4300 SAN from HP-Lefthand. I would like to register the HP P4000 SAN VASA Provider. I can't find any instructions on how to do this.  I am not sure what to enter for this...

Hi there.

Info is in this document http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02500691/c02500691.pdf  (page 19)

But you need to install the Sytems Insight Control for vcenter first and be running it on a hp systems insite manager server.

So basicly follow the document or others it talks about.

Cheers

Hi

Storage vendors  provides plugins called vendor providers. These  vendor providers sits between vCenter & storage array and retrieves the storage capability information and pass them to vCenter.

Apart from capability discovery, VASA also helps vCenter Admin to get information  regarding Storage health status, configuration info & capacity. VASA also plays a very important role for Storage DRS for VM placement recommendations.

Once you register a Vendor Provider, vCenter Server will communicates with the vendor provider to obtain information related to

  1. Storage topology which includes such information regarding storage arrays, array IDs, and so on.
  2. Storage capabilities which includes information about physical capabilities and services being offered by underlying storage.
  3. Storage status. Which includes alarms and events for notifying about configuration changes.

@prince1121

Please consider to at least add a link to the blog post (http://blog.srinfotec.com/?p=509 in this case) from where you copied the text you posted. Blogger spend a lot of work to maintain their blogs and it is not really fair to cut&paste their work here and make it look like it's yours! Don't you agree?
