Question on Cloning Machine

In an effort to change my file names (since storage vmotion does not work in 5), I created a clone.  What I noticed is it did not ask me if I wanted to keep the UUID or change it.  So my question is, what did it do with the old UUID?  keep it or change it?  Do I have to edit vmx file to have it not change before I power it on?  Is there any other recomendation to to change file names?

-Thanks

Cloning will create a new UUID - you do not have the option to maintain UUID -

If you have vCenter you can cold migrate the VM which will let you change the files names and move them to a new datacenter - only downside is the VM has o be off

Also curious about your statement -

(since storage vmotion does not work in 5),

Because Storage vMotion works in 5 - what issues are you facing?
