Question about the new Cisco Vswitch

I had a question about the new Cisco Vswitch. Does anyone know if you have to purchase it per vswitch you want to have per ESX server or if it is just one price for as many vswitches as you want per server?

Thanks

Marty

The price is per server. not per vSwitch.

Hey Marty,

Cisco has information on this on their website:

" The Cisco Nexus 1000V Series is licensed based on the number of physical CPUs on the server on which the VEM is running. "

I don't know for sure, but i believe that based on their website, you can have as many vSwitches as you want, but don't quote me on that, it is probably best to talk to cisco on how their licensing is going to work.

Cheers,

/Jonathan

I am pretty certian that only relates to the VEM (virtual Environment Manager) and not that Switch -which I believe is a seperate licesned product per host.
