Purging old data from the database Vcenter server

Guys,

I've been looking at a few issues and found the artcle which I need to follow however I am having one issue that is the files are not linked properly and I cannot download the attachments. Does anyone happen to have a copy or know where I can get one? The article in question is:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100012...

The file is: VCDB_PURGE_MSSQL.zip

A search of the downloads section has not proven fruitful

Thanks guys!

you are looking for the attached file? The top file if for vCenter 2.x and the bottom is for vCenter4.x

Hi Adam

Looks like someone was listening!!

The article seems to have been updated some time today, and the files (now named specifically for 2.x) are available to download again.

Hope this helps

Adam

And how is it that I deleted 18000 rows & the size of the DB did not really go down in size almost at all?

And yes, I did shrink it

you may need to re-index as well as address your transaction logs.

My log is already set to simple & the size of the log is close to nothing (not even 1 Mb)

It is the data file that has ove 950 Mb
