Problems with VCB

Hello,

I newby using virtual consolidate backup. I have installed VCB in the same host where I Installed Virtual Center. I want to make a backup (no using any backup softwareas :vritas, legato,...) directly from console. If I excute this command I get:

First...Unless you are running VCB 1.1 and VC 2.5, this combination is not supported. There is a conflict in the disk mount drivers. Assuming you are using the updated versions, make sure the SAN VMFS disk is presented to the VCB Proxy.

In want to make a backup through the LAN. My proxy server hasn't connectivity to the SAN.

I use:

C:\Archivos de programa\VMware\VMware Consolidated Backup Framework>vcbMounter.e

xe -h aldvc -u mydomain\username -p 12345 -a ipaddr:192.168.200.214 -r g

Hello,

I granted comunication betwen proxy and esx server through TCP/443:

esxcfg-firewall -o 443,tcp,in,https

esxcfg-firewall -o 443,tcp,out,https

service mgmt-vmware restart

But I get the same error.

In the picture we can see that The snapshot is created but later it´s removed automatically.

It seems your problem isn't to do with the SSL error because as it says - "Certificate verification is disabled, so connection will proceed despite the error" - and then it goes on to say "Error: Failed to open the disk".

I had a similiar error a while ago and found that the domain account that was set up for VCB had an expired password.

I'd recommend running the "bpbrowse-start PolicyName VirtualMachine" and see what errors you get then. As far as I know, running this command will snapshot and mount the VM on your VCB server but wont invoke a backup. If this command mounts the VM then you know that VCB is operational.

Hello,

I don´t use any software to do the backup. I make the backup directly from the commnad prompt through the LAN:

C:\Archivos de programa\VMware\VMware Consolidated Backup Framework>vcbMounter.e

xe -h aldvc -u mydomain\username -p 12345 -a ipaddr:192.168.200.214 -r g

:\pruebas -t fullvm -m nbd

I think bpbrowse-start is a Netbackup's command.

The error is:

-2008-02-01 14:28:55.637 'vcbMounter' 6116 error-- Error: Failed to open the disk

: The operation completed successfully

Thanks

The only problem that i have noticed is that you need a esx 3.5 to use a Consolidated Backup over lan.

I have try to use Consolidated Backup 1.1 and a esx 3.5 and all work good.

3.0.2 haven't option installed to do a backup from lan.

Luca
