Problem displaying datastore performance data in vCenter 4.1

We are currently using vCenter 4.1.  We will be upgrading to vCenter 5 soon.  A few days ago we noticed an issue when attempting to display Datastore performance data.  When going to the datastore view in vCenter, selecting a datastore and going to the Performance tab to view performance, no data is displayed and the screen just hangs at "Loading...".  Sometimes this will actually cause the vsphere client to hang and will need to kill it and log in again.  This happens no matter which workstation we access vCenter with and also when accessing directly from the vCenter server.

Is there a known issue that would cause this?  We are thinking it might be storage I/0 related but not sure.

If you have any plug-ins to the vSphere client, try temporarily removing them to see if they are the cause. I've had issues with the EMC VSI plug-in which was occasionally causing this behaviour.

Where does it hang? Performance overview, or Advanced?

It hangs when selecting Performance from the dropdown menu for the datastore under the Performace tab
