Power saving on VM's with Screensaver and wallepaper disabling

Hi All,

Does can we save power on VMware infrastructure , if we disable screensaver and wallpaper on all the VM's.

How much power it can save for IT, for example. if i have 1000 VM hosted on my VMware infrastructure.

You will definitely want to disable the screen save as it will put an added load even if no one is accessing the VM -  In terms of power savings not much becaus ethe ESXi host is what is drawing power - If you are looking for a power saving in your data center take a look at VMware Ditributed Power Management (DPM) - this is an added feature to DRS allowing vCenter to monitor resource consumption on the hosts and poweriing down hosts if they are not needed and then bringing them on line as the resource load increases - here is a link for more information http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/DPM.pdf
