Poor performance in Console tab

Hi all,

I'm using VI3 with VC2. When I am on Virtual Center, I can use and manage VM and Host correctly (very good performance). But, when I click on Consle tab, the console appears after long time (until 1 minute). After, i can work on my console normaly.

What can I do to have normal performance when I click on Console tab ?

Thank you for your help,

Olivier

Do you have vmware tools installed in the VM? Also how is the performance if you connect the VI client directly to the ESX host rather than VirtualCenter.

When you make a remote console connection the VI client will make a direct connection to the ESX host so if there are any firewalls, etc, this may affect performance. If you're running the VI client over a VPN, DSL, wireless connection, it won't performance that great so you might be better to used remote desktop or an alternative to connect directly to the VM and use the remote console for emergency type control. You could also remote desktop to the VC server and run the VI client in the remote desktop session.

I have VMWare Tools installed on my VM. If I try to open console directly on the ESX server, the performance is the same.

I connect to ESX or VC from computer on the network. I'm wondering if I have to install an uptodate Java Client on my Windows.

I didn't check my firewall on the ESX. I suppose if my firewall have got a bad configuration, my request would be rejected.

If it were the ESX firewall, then you wouldn't have a connection at all.

Are you using the web client on your PC? What is the performance like if you install the full VI client?

I'm using Virtual Infrastructure Client (V 2.0.1 Build 33643).

I don't use web interface, except when I can't do otherwise. I prefer use VI because I can manage ressource pool, ESX, ... on the same place.

To open console, I suppose VI using Console Service on the ESX. Is it possible to have got a performance problem on the Console Service ?
