Out of date certificate on esxi7 host, can't be changed

Hi Guys

I set up a new esxi7 host on a repurposed server but did not notice that the date was wrong ( 2002 ) so when I created the esxi host, the certificate shows start 2002 - end 2007.  How can I change it without building the host again.

I tried importing a new self signed certificate, which seems to work, but then gives an error "failed to import".

Any ideas?

I have not done this on ESXi 7.0 yet, but in the past I followed the steps mentioned in https://communities.vmware.com/t5/ESXi-Discussions/vsphere-down/m-p/2313498 to generate new self-signed certificates.
