No Permissions to Login to vCenter Server

I've created a domain account and assigned it virtual machine user and datastore user rights.  I can't logon to the vCenter server. I get "You do not have permission to logon to the server".  I don't want to give the account local admin rights to the VC server.

I've done this before however, and have another domain account that actually works.  This account IS NOT a member of the local admins group (or any other group on the VC server for that matter).  I can log in with this one fine.  The new account is set up identical as far as I can tell.

What's going on?

At what level did you place the permissions?

no issues logging into vcenter with any other account.  Just my new one

datastore user at the datacenter level

virtual machine user at the folder level

This is the same as the other group that works.  Only difference is the permissions apply to two different sub folders

I actually just tried adding my new group to the working one and it works fine.

Then re-added to the other folder and it now works tooSmiley Happy

Go figure.  It was definately there before .. honest!
