Hi,
We have an existing VC server and database that we would like to move onto new hardware. I've seen a few articles roughly related to this but was hoping someone could point me at a step-by-step proceedure. I'm not worried about losing any historical info (stats etc), so can I just setup the new server, install SQL and VC, shutdown the existing VC server and import my ESX hosts?
Thanks,
Ben
Yes you can remove the hosts from your old server and just add them to the new one. You will have to set up any folders / permissions etc again.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Just to confirm then, there will be no impact on my vm's then, or on any licences as this is my licence server too?
Hello,
No impact on vms; they will continue to run. As stated though you will lose permissions, folders as well as perf data, and changes made to roles, alerting, etc
Thanks for that. I've not really done much with folders, roles and alerts as yet, so not worried about losing anything, but what is the alternative, copying the existing db over to the new vc server, or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks
If copying the database over I think you would have to set up the new server with the same IP and DNS name settings.
also, you will have to set up the license server again, unless you leave it running on the old server and just point the new server to the old one....
