New SAN Hardware - Dell Equallogic or HP Lefthand

Hey Guys,

We are looking to replace an older SAN with a new iSCSI device and we have done some testing and narrowing of the market and have selected HP and Dell

We are looking at the following:

Two Dell PS6000xv

Vs

4 node Lefthand Cluster

At the end of the Day the Lefthand is coming in a little cheaper.

I am looking to get some opinions to help try and sway a very close desision.

Thanks

You can find a lot of thread about SAN choice.

IMHO I think that Equallogic can give more features and it is very scalable.

I suggest to consider a PS4xxxx with a PS6xxxx with a storage with SATA (and larger) disks and the second with fast disks.

I think feature for feature the equallogic beats the lefthand , as well as the ease to manage.

Upgrades to newer hardware in the future should be smoother also with the EQ. You also

get a longer wtty with the EQ i believe.

Less power consumption I bet with EQ as well. With lefthand you really are running to entire

sans to get redundancy.

We have selected Lefthand product due to price and feature set.
