After updating ESX 3.5 and VC 2.5 to Update 2 I notice some new behaviour:
When creating a datastore, a rescan VMFS task is started on all esx servers that have access to the lun. All automatically!
It resulted in three of my esx servers showing up as disconnected in the VI Client. Luckily, the VM's kept running.
Is this a new feature?
Can somebody point me to the documentation of this feature?
Are there any advanced properties to disable or modify this behaviour?
Thanks,
Hugo
Hi,
I have heard about this happening before, but I have never experienced it myself. I don't know if it is a bug or a feature.
Best regards

Hey Hugo say hi to Mark Erica from me. He told me about this. I will try to find out if it's a new feature but I never heard of it before or seen it. I can test it however in my home lab if I can find the time today or tomorrow.

Thanks Duncan, will do.
I have never seen this behaviour before updating our Virtual Center to Update 2. It's a nice feature (if it is a feature) that makes sure your datastores are available for failover/vmotion etc, but I'd rather see it queue the rescans and perform them one at a time.
