Need help with a comit and revert....

So here is my dilema... have a production system that i took a snapshot of before i did an upgrade (backup 4-27-12).  the upgrade looked like it worked, but actually broke some other components.  so i took a snapshot (after backup) and said go to backup 4-27-12 (in case i wanted to try the upgrade again).  so here i am with my current state in the middle of the parent and a snapshot that i want to remove.  Do I delete my current snapshot (backup 4-27-12) and then try to revert to get rid of the "after backup" snapshot? and this might be a stupid question... but why does it look like from the image that the running snapshot is the "after backup" snapshot (green arroqw)  when the you are here indication is that I am running the backup 4-27-12 snapshot?

It depends on where you are currently in the chain. Since you're within the chain prior to 'after backup', it will just discard that. Since you're after the 4-27-12 snapshot, it will commit that.

If you're worried about deleting a snapshot changing your current VM state, that won't happen. Either way, where you are booted up inside the VM when you delete won't change.

It doesn't look like the image went through. You may want to try to re-upload or upload to imgur.com and paste the link.

The 'You are here' does indicate you are running from the 4-27-12 snapshot (plus any changes you've made since reverting to it).

I'm assuming your goal is to just get rid of all snapshots and stay at the point in time from the 4-27-12 snapshot. If so, just delete the 'after backup', revert to the 4-27-12 snapshot (or stay where you are if you haven't made any changes since reverting that you don't want kept), and then delete that snapshot.

thanks for your help!  I was under the impression that deleting a snapshot "committed" the changes up to the previous snapshot. so if i delete the "after backup" snapshot, wont it save the changes (the upgrade) to the backup 4-27-12 snapshot that i took before the upgrade?
