Multiple Virtual Center (VC 2.5 U3)

Hi Guys,

I know that it is possible to have more than one vCenter server in the infrastructure and that each ESX servers can only be controlled by one vCenter server at a time.

What I need is a solution to manage my Virtual Infrastructure which will be composed by up to 25 000 VM (VDI environment). A quick math show me that I will need at least 13 vCenter servers to manage all this (2000 VM per vCenter). Is there a solution for me ? Will I need 13 vCenter servers with 13 databases or could I connect all those vCenters to the same database ? (I doubt). If 13 DB will need to be crated... that will be a pain to manage all those VMs !

Thanks,

Hi,

You will need 13 different vCenters. I would create 13 individual databases. Of course they could be hosted on the same SQL server.

Take a look at the following technology preview: http://communities.vmware.com/community/beta/vcadminportal Maybe that will help you

manage it.

Great advise,

Is it the only solution ? I wasn't aware of VCAP, that will probably be part as my design if I can get a release date or at least know if it's going to be released one day (With VI4 VCAP will be obsolete)
