Moving template between virtual centres

whats the best way to move a template from one virtual centre to another virtual centre.   They both contain esx hosts which have access to different datastores.  We use Vmware vpshere V 4 update 2

Hello.

Convert it to a VM and then export it (OVF, copy w/datastore browser, etc) to the new vCenter server.  Then import the VM and convert it back to a template.

Good Luck!

I think Converter could accomplish what you are looking to do.  The other two posters also have solid suggestions on how to get the template copied over.

how would cold migrate work, as when you try to migrate a powered off VM and choose the destination, it does not show the other virtual centres to move to.

if you are going from one vCenter to another, you can't cold migrate unless you pull your destination ESX(i) Host out of it's vCenter instance and add into the old.  Otherwise you'll have to use converter.

Of course - I'd misread the orig. question I'd have though convert would be the only other way unless you used something like Veeam FastSCP ( assuming Tech support was on ) to copy the files ?
