Moving SQL Express Database?

I am wondering if it is possible and/or recommended if I wanted to move my SQL Express 2005 database that has my vCenter and Update Manager databases to another SQL server running 2005 Enterprise.

If so what is the best way to go about this?

Thanks.

SQL Express is okay for small, non-production vCenter Server environments. If you have access to a full SQL license then I would advise moving to it. The following VMware KB article can help you with the procedure: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/7960893

Hope this helps! === If you find this information useful, please award points for "correct" or "helpful". ===

SQL Express is the 100% core SQL Server with some limitations.

Unless your database is < 4 GB - this is the right solution for you. Larger database files aren't supported.

DB will grow according to number of hosts and number of VMs. I would recommend to switch to SQL server edition rather sticking with Express DB if you have a room for license.

Regular maintenance/reporting is much flexible in Server edition.

This is a good document though for migrating SQL Express DB
