Hi,

Is there any agent for monitoring an ESX with software as Patrol or Nagios ?

If yes, are they certified by VMware ?

There are quite a few monitoring agents for ESX Server. As far as I know, VMware doesn't have a certification program for layered software. But some of these products come from participants in VMware's Technology Alliance Program, a good thing because they are likely to have a closer relationship with VMware than non-participants.

You mention Nagios. Nagios is open-source, but a Google search suggests that various people have written plugins for monitoring various aspects of ESX Server.

You can also look into using SNMP. Most monitoring software will work with SNMP. Also you may look for software from your hardware vendor such as IBM Director, Dell OpenManage, HP Insight Manager.

Have seen the SNMP, Nagios, HP, Dell and IBM agents in action, all seem to work very well..
